Anyang’s Mid-Autumn & National Holiday Tourism Highlights 2025
Under the golden autumn sky and a bright harvest moon, the ancient city of Anyang came alive this October. During the combined National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, the city welcomed over 8.5 million visitors, ranking among the top destinations in Henan Province. From the world-famous Yinxu Ruins and Red Flag Canal to the Chinese Character Museum, cultural heritage and modern creativity merged to create an unforgettable holiday experience.
A Cultural Capital in Full Bloom
At the Chinese Character Museum, visitors lined up to explore new creative souvenirs inspired by ancient scripts and bronze art. Over 40 new cultural products debuted during the holiday, while Yinxu Museum’s gift area reached a record 400,000 RMB in daily sales, proving that “taking history home” has become the new trend.
Beyond museum halls, history came to life through immersive performances. At the Yinxu Palace Ruins, visitors stepped back 3,000 years to experience shows like Encounter Across Millennia and The Covenant of the Huan River. On Moon Island, the large-scale water show Tracing the Great Shang combined light, drones, and storytelling to recreate legendary moments such as King Pan Geng’s relocation to Yin.
Meanwhile, the Anyang Museum’s “Mini Archaeologist” workshop let children dig into the mysteries of the Shang Dynasty, while interactive exhibitions like The Birth of Shang and Meet Su Dongpo offered VR experiences where guests could “speak” with historical figures.
Over 120 cultural and leisure events were held citywide, turning Anyang into a living museum where ancient civilization meets modern imagination.
From Dawn to Dusk: The City That Never Sleeps
Despite drizzles, enthusiasm filled the streets. The historic South Street reopened to the public with its grey-brick walls, stone-paved lanes, and a lively mix of heritage shops, creative markets, and cafes — making it a must-visit for visitors in Hanfu and photo lovers alike.
“It’s the perfect mix of old and new,” said Li Manman, a university student from Zhengzhou. “You can feel the history and still enjoy trendy city life.”
Nature lovers found serenity in the Taihang Grand Canyon, where misty mountains and waterfalls created postcard-perfect views. “It’s breathtaking — I’ll tell all my friends to visit,” said a tourist from South Korea. To make travel easier for international guests, Anyang introduced multilingual guides, online ticketing, and improved sign systems across major attractions.
When night fell, Anyang offered new reasons to stay out. The “Light Up Yinxu” nighttime experience projected dazzling holograms on the ancient earthen walls, while the “Oracle Secret Realm” light show at the Chinese Character Museum turned the world’s earliest writing into a glowing dance of symbols. In Linzhou, the Red Flag Canal outdoor performance illuminated the mountains with water, music, and light — retelling a story of determination and unity under the stars.

Thoughtful Services, Warm Encounters
Behind the festival’s success was a network of thoughtful services. Over 160 public institutions opened free parking lots, adding 5,400 spaces for tourists. The “Visit Anyang” platform offered one-stop smart travel services, including an AI assistant named Xiao An for real-time navigation and tips. Volunteers across stations and attractions offered friendly guidance, while local hotels launched holiday discounts and free gifts for guests.
From scenic train promotions to special museum-night tickets and free entry at natural parks, visitors felt truly welcomed wherever they went.
