What People Say
Great Atmosphere at the Anyang Marathon — Totally Worth It
This was my second time visiting Anyang, but my first time running the Anyang Marathon. Here are my thoughts:
1. The course was very flat.
It was entirely within the city, and even the half marathon had no slopes or bridges at all.
2. The citizens of Anyang were incredibly enthusiastic.
The streets were packed with people cheering — adults and children alike. Some people even cheered until their voices went hoarse. It was really touching.
3. The supplies were extremely generous.
There was plenty of support along the way — sports drinks were provided first, followed by bottled water, and the supply stations were very long.
4. The volunteers were amazing.
Whether during the race or after the event, they were incredibly helpful and friendly. Many of my photos were taken by volunteers, and the quality was excellent. Thank you to all the volunteers for your hard work!
The atmosphere was top-tier — one of the best races I’ve run so far!
Of course, there were also some issues, mainly related to the organizers:
1. Packet collection was inefficient.
The queue management wasn’t good, and it seemed like preparations weren’t fully ready — materials were still being packed on-site.
2. Post-race transportation guidance was insufficient.
Although there were many shared bicycles, they were far from enough. Ride-hailing cars were difficult to get, and there were no shuttle buses.
There were also no major bike-sharing services like HelloBike, Qingju, or Meituan available citywide. Luckily, I found a shared electric scooter, but many runners had to walk back to their hotels. The post-race experience could definitely be improved.
Night Stroll in Wenfeng District — Cangxiang Street
Taking a night walk in Wenfeng District — Cangxiang Street
Wenfeng Pagoda looks beautiful at night.
Right across from the hotel where I stayed was the courtyard house of Yuan Shikai’s Ninth Concubine.
It feels like Yuan Shikai’s wives were all quite beautiful — and their descendants seem to have inherited good looks too.
I also accidentally discovered a top-ranked internet-famous café & bookstore in Anyang.
The decoration was very artistic and stylish.
It was peaceful at night, and I really liked the atmosphere.
I even left a handwritten message there.
If I Hadn't Come to Anyang, I Might Never Have Known This Place
If I hadn’t come to Anyang this time, I might never have known that such an unforgettable place exists in Henan.
When you step into the Yinxu Museum, you suddenly realize that everything written in history books about the Shang Dynasty finally becomes real.
Beyond the museum, the Yinxu archaeological site itself carries deep history.
At first, it may seem ordinary.
But when you walk along the long oracle bone corridor, see the chariot pits, and learn about Lady Fu Hao, China’s first recorded female general, you finally understand what the true power of history means.
