When KFC Meets Oracle Bone Script: Henan’s First Oracle Bone Script–Themed KFC

Some people love the canyon in spring, when peach blossoms bring soft color and new life.

Some prefer summer, when the Taihang Sky Road rises through deep green shade.

Others enjoy autumn, when Wangxiang Rock is wrapped in warm golden tones.

But some visitors love the canyon most in winter.

The First Days of Winter

Quiet, Pure, and Beautiful

Early winter shows the canyon in its most natural form.

The trees have dropped their leaves, frost covers the dry grass, and ancient cypress and pine trees stand strong along the red cliffs.

Here and there, a bit of green appears, small touches that brighten the quiet landscape.

The path winds upward like a silver ribbon around the peaks.

In the streams and gullies, the first ice begins to form, creating beautiful winter shapes carved by nature.

A clean, crisp winter scene slowly opens before you.

A Different Kind of Peace

In winter, the canyon is calm and spacious.
Without the busy crowds, it feels deeper, quieter, and more elegant.

Climbing Wangxiang Rock in this season always brings a special feeling a mix of grand views and the timeless power of the land.

When sunlight reflects off Taihang Lake, turning the water into shining gold, you feel the peaceful beauty of mountains and sky all around you.

True, Simple Nature

The winter canyon is honest and pure.
It sets aside the noise of the past seasons and shows its true, untouched form, simple, natural, and free of decoration.

When KFC Meets Oracle Bone Script: Henan’s First Oracle Bone Script–Themed KFC

In the hometown of oracle bone script, ancient characters meet modern life in an unexpected way. Recently, Anyang unveiled Henan’s first oracle bone script–themed KFC, turning a familiar fast-food restaurant into a space where 3,300 years of history can be seen, touched, and experienced.

Created jointly by the Anyang Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Sports and Tourism and KFC Henan, the upgraded Drive-Thru restaurant on Renmin Avenue blends dining with culture. Oracle bone characters are woven throughout the space. From interactive “guess the character” walls to murals showing scenes of Shang Dynasty life, it allows visitors to learn about the origins of Chinese writing while enjoying a meal.

On the second floor, pictographic characters such as “fish,” “cook,” “dance,” and “music” appear within ancient daily life scenes, while digital screens explain how Chinese characters were formed. Even the exterior design pairs ancient bronze vessels with modern coffee cups, creating a visual dialogue across time.

This project is not just decoration, but a creative way to bring ancient culture into everyday life. As the birthplace of oracle bone script, Anyang has long explored how to move these ancient characters beyond museums and into modern settings. The themed restaurant offers a lively answer, especially for younger audiences.

As part of KFC Henan’s cultural-themed restaurant series, the Anyang oracle bone script location marks a new step in making traditional culture accessible and engaging.

This winter, visit the oracle bone script–themed KFC in Anyang.
Enjoy a piece of fried chicken, learn an ancient character, and experience a civilization that began over 3,300 years ago.
